To sleep, perchance…
Hmm.
Greece, as I mentioned, was very cool. Saturday, I checked out, and went to see the Acropolis. Immense, and very weird to look out from the top of the mountain it’s on.
So, we arrive at Luton after midnight. So much for going to find a hotel
So, I bought a book (Ben Elton, Dead Famous, very funny, especially for those who, like me, hate Big Brother with a vengeance) and read it.
Then at 5.40am I took the first bus to Heathrow, and decided to change the journey home plans, and go meet up with Sy/Iain et al in Reading, as I was going directly past. That was cool. Decided not to travel on the 5.30pm, stay in pub, eat, then take the 7pm train home. Good job really, they cancelled the 5.30pm…
Which meant my train was a) full and b) forced to stop at every stop in Devon. Including stops with platforms so small even the conductor got fed up announcing how to get off (”If you’re in the last 4 carriages, and this really is the smallest station on the route, honest, then you need to go forward to a carriage with an exit…”).
So, we get to Newton Abbott at about 11.30pm. And the ambulance team turn up. And the staion manager apologises that both the train I was on and the train I’m now going on will be delayed, for “obvious reasons”.
Gah! If you want to top yourself, why jump in front of a train? In Devon? It’s not like we’re short of cliffs, fast roads, high car parks on lunatics with guns. Why annoy the fuck out of everyone else as well?
So, I get home after midnight, and sleep. and sleep. Boy do I sleep.
Woke up yesterday morning because my alarm shouted at me. Rang in to work, went back to sleep.
Woke up again late afternoon, decided to not get up, instead read Iain M Banks book and watch DVDs. Finished off the making of Return of the King then decided to watch from the beginning. Except, not in the mood to follow the plot (not like I don’t know it backwards already) so watch Fellowship with Peter Jackson commentary.
He celebrated his 29th birthday while they started filming. that means he’s not much older than me, and, when a year younger than me, had already talked a major studio to take the biggest risk ever on the most insane project ever undertaken in cinema’s history. Bastard. Still, deserves the success methinks. Fell asleep after changing disks, woke upwhen the credits rolled. That’s after already sleeping all day…
Ah well; off to watch more DVDs; Fellowship pt 2 then Two Towers, or Donnie Darko (finally succumbed to the urge to get it, never seen it but so many people keep telling me it’s good, at £5, not really bothered if it isn’t…)?
Good to hear you had a good time. Come to The Bunker on saturday cos i’m back!

And that’s an insentive to go? Surely that should be a reason to stay away?
I’ll think about it; depends on a lot of stuff involving getting some sleep. I’ll let you know.

Well, Odo’s going, and i’m not going to be there; there’s an incentive to go!

I can see a Samaritans worker coming out with that on an off-day!

That’s precisely why - you can fuck the train-driver’s psyche up for life, and stick one last middle digit up at the world that hates you.
Let’s face it, suicides are all a pack of self-obsessed cunts anyway, so why expect them to be considerate to anyone?
