Mat Bowles

Insert Humour Here

My first interview…

I was going to put them all in one when I’d got them, but cheated…

Interview you eh?
1. What’s the worst book you’ve ever read? And was it by Anne McCaffrey, because it bloody well ought to be.

Silly question; Battlefield Earth. Remember, Gareth bet me I would never be able to finish it, but I managed just to spite him? The film is actually worse as well. I liked McCaffrey when I was a kid, haven’t gone back to reread now I’m old enough to know better though.

2. Good job with shit pay or shit job with good pay?

Um, I currently have a good job with shit pay, and I’m probably staying for awhile. So the former.

3. How do you want to die?

Quickly?

4. Would you rather give up Kitkats or fake bacon rashers?

I gave up KitKats before you gave up meat, haven’t bought a Nestle product for over 2 years now.

5. What’s the coolest piece of technology you own?

Actually, it’s probably my new mobile. It will likely become my DAB car stereo with CD player, but it isn’t wired in yet (it was an Xmas present with free installation; all I have to do is ring one number. d’oh!)

And 6. Are you coming down the Bunker tomorrow night?
Cheat. Yes, I got a personal invitation to do so. You?

There’s some obligatory meme text to add in, but I’ll put it on the later one… Feel free to ask for one anyway.

  1. Um, well done?

No, glad to see you’ve given up the KitKat’s, evil Nestle… I thought the addiction was too strong. Oh well, you revert to Mat-ness by having an Xmas present which you haven’t installed in almost 4 months…

Yeah, I got a personal invite (well, a PM, I guess it’s the same thing).

    Interview me back.

  3. Gah, 5 questions?

    1) What’s the best book you’ve read not by Orson Scott Card?

    2) Career in politics, or just writing about it?

    3) Federation or Confederal Consociation; your preference?

    4) You’re on a desert island. There’s no food worth speaking of except flowers. You find a beehive. Honey or starve?

    5) Teris or Snake?

  6. i enjoyed answering these, thanks mat!!

    1) Apart from sleeping, when are you ever not online?
when i’m at lectures or rehearsals or eating a meal or at concerts……

    2) IRL, people should call you Freddie, Katherine or Kate?
they have the choice of katherine, fred or freddie (or fredster if you’re my brother). never ever ever ever ever ever ever call me kate. or kath. or kathy. etc… my first name has 9 letters and i like it that way. usually the people who call me fred/freddie are either from xnet or think it’s novel to call a girl a boy’s name… it actually comes from my grandad wanting someone in our family to be called frederica after a girl he knew near moscow in the war, so i got it for a second middle name. i think it could be the reason i’m slightly random.

    3) Be honest; do you actually like his hat?
um… not particularly. it’s slightly better now he’s washed it, but i’d prefer it if he didn’t wear it so often… though he doesn’t wear it so much inside now cos i nag him to take it off… i do like the badges though - i collect pin badges too (it’s almost worrying how similar we are)

    4) Cats or dogs?
    dogs - here’s mine…

    5) 5 years time; where are you living?
not entirely sure… i’m still a young un after all, though i wouldn’t mind living down here cos it’s just so lovely. i’ve always wanted to live in whitby (we have family round there) or north yorkshire in general, though i get cold very easily so it’s probably best if i live further south. having said that, i don’t really like it when it gets really hot so… well i don’t know to be honest. hopefully i’ll have a job that i enjoy that pays the bills and if i’m lucky i’ll have a steady homelife too. :)

  7. So it’s an actual name; didn’t realise that. Glad you liked em; it was going to be a “I’ll think and get back to you” response, but then they just came and prodded me…

  8. Do I have to?

    OK.

    1) Why do you still bother?

    2) Graduation day +20. You’re living in Hull, Exeter or somewhere else?

    3) “free”, “fair”, “mixed” or command/control market?

    4) Dogs or cats? Why?

    5) Morning or evening person?

  9. 1) Ending it’s too easy and i’ve got a long way to go. Besides, despite all your protesting, you like me.
    2) I’d like to stay in Hull.
    3) Fair.
    4) Cats because they’re gracious, independent and i have 2.
    5) Evening because i find it hard to wake up.
