How old? Darwin’s tortoise still going strong

gives me this story, Steve Irwin’s zoo looks after the oldest land animal in Australasia, found at the believed age of 5 by none other than Charles Darwin. How cool is that?

In other news, and it’s bad considering what day it is, Keith Richards not to be in the next 2 Pirates movies. Bugger, was looking forward to that. Well, looking forward to them anyway, but Keith would’ve been cool.

The German elections results are interesting in a weird way, Merkel divebombed during the campaign and appears to have ended as a pretty dismal failure, but the Free Democrats had their best result in years; as they’re the equivalent of Orange Book LibDems, and a friend of mine is an occasional candidate for them, that pleases me, although I think I’m more Green in German party choice. The UK coverage is a bit off in my opinion, it’s being covered in many ways as a failure for Schroeder, but there’s no doubt that the German electorate has made a considerable swing to the Left overall, not that you could really tell; new party Die Linke (The Left) has taken more of his support than anything else at first glance. Nosemonkey has a good round up, including some decent links elsewhere. He can’t spell my name right, but I’m getting used to that…
