Insert Humour Here

Icons, The GIMP, Internet Exploder and a summers day

Firstly. Apparently, this has nothing to do with .

Thee Summer Day Score
Name MatGB (43) Thursday 13th April (68) 0 : 1
Loveliness Lovelier Lovely 1 : 1
Temperature 98.6° F 60° F 2 : 1
Lease 31.56 years 0.59 years 3 : 1
Complexion 4 : 1
MatGB is more lovely, and probably more temperate, than a summers day

Second, I have figured how to use the Gimp to make transparencies (so simple when you get it, but so not easy to find) and also to animate gifs. Um, why is gif animating an obscure save option?

Still, cool beans, I have made an icon.

Anyone reading will have noticed I’ve messed the template up. Apart from the colour scheme (bad idea, never should use colours), it should be perfect. Except Internet Explorer doesn’t resolve the CSS properly. Set width margins; that gives a variable width centre column you useless software! Gah! It looks awful. It’s either go back to the old, badly coded columns, or fudge it by putting an invisible table to not let the window resize below 1000px for IE users only. That would be a bad idea. Have I mentioned IE sucks? Oh, I think I did.

Apparently, it’s spring. Spring? Will you turn up soon? My flat is utterly, utterly frozen. OH, and my internal bodyclock thinks that the correct time to sleep is 5.30am. My alarm clock thinks the time to wake up is 8.30am. 6 hours sleep in 2 days not good.

  3. Well done, you can animate gifs.

Now can you animate them a bit slower, so they’re not so painful on the eyes?

What’s your current balance of Firefox users v IE users? Is it worth your while making tremendous changes to cater for a marginal browser that hasn’t been seriously updated in eight and a half years?

  5. It’s currently 60% non-IE, but most of the IE traffic is daytime office workers, I’ve had feedback from people that simply can’t change their work browser. Don’t want to lose them as readers so need to make sure they can read.

Likely best option is to hide a table using the comment tag system you showed us and in that table have a few links to both download sources and an explanation of the problem. Needs to explain things in idiot-proof language; some people don’t know what a ‘browser’ is FFS. As some of these people are politicians…

  6. Yeah, first one, had no idea how to balance it; 300 was the recommended, so I did it, looked ok to me. Now at 3000, which seems about right.

  7. Yup, no central heating; that’s the big problem; multiple jumpers and frozen typing fingers.

It’s spring, and I’m still using the same electric as January :-(

  8. Yeah yeah yeah. I was born and currently live in the statistically most mild district in the UK.

I like cold weather, just not this cold, and not in a flat that just so isn’t designed for it. You’re all bills paid, I have to pay to turn the bar heater on.

  9. Yeah, but I’m technically wasting my money then, as I haven’t used the heating for so long that I can’t remember how to turn it on…

  10. Well, that’s up to you, I don’t like it too hot anywhere, but as cold as this is just daft.
