is sick. This I know. She linked to a story. On . It was to do with cartoon characters I’d never heard of. Meh. I looked around.
Two people on my friends list I suspect ought to start watching this one. Actually, I suspect more than 2 of you but still. Two people on my friends list are already members. You sick sick sick depraved people. What is it with women and slashfic? What’s wrong with pretty pictures?

I keep dying. One of the cool things is going back up the chain of ‘parents’ till you get the top. Spread fairly quickly given it started today…

OK, the results are in. Executive decision; everyone that know him picked Mark, most that don’t picked Blears. As I really can’t stand the woman anyway (she’s not as bad as el Tone but, y’know) I figure let’s do both, fair?
We can, of course, accept late write in nominations if someone comes up with something really good.
Completely unrelated. People interested in Doctor Who, Sci-Fi books and/or international politics should go friend . He’s rather good at bringing the drama…

Score: 100
Explore the Dungeon of Matgb and try to beat this score,

Very silly. I approve.

Wondering Exeter this morning with and (great to see you again Mark), my ‘net addiction kicked in and I turned on Opera Mini to check my email (C was heading towards another clothes shop to get a top more suited to the weather). Top of my inbox? A comment notification from . Who he? Well, he’s a bit of an arse, and was apologising for, on occasions, being one. But, well, he’s also a Vice-President of Six Apart.
: From what I can tell, he’s an arse. I may be wrong.
: I am, sometimes. Other times I’m not so bad… but I figure I’ve got a better chance at not being an arse if I’m at least out there trying to talk to people. Most of the folks who’ve IMed/phoned seem to think I’m being reasonable, so I should probably just do a better job of not posting comments when I’m frustrated by people.
Spun me out a little is all. I’ve still seen more negative comments from him than constructive, but, well, maybe there’s still hope? On the subject of hope…
Important: Dodgy malware in advert on LJ
A very suspect company managed to trick LJ and run an advert that used Flash to create a pop-up and install some dodgy software (Errorsafe/Winfixer). More info here. If you’re a free or Sponsored+ user, especially if you’re not running Flashblock, run the necessary checks as per normal.

Antonia Bance:
I thought I’d blog my week for you - unexpurgated, complete with all the vegan-food-and-sandals-101 classes and the mentoring sessions with baby dykes, just so you can get the reality of being a Guardian-cack councillor.
[snip]
Monday is a rare night off, so Jo and I promote lesbian lifestyles by going to the supermarket and blatently buying groceries.
Some of the irrelevent crap she has to deal with is utterly disgusting. When she writes about high-politics Westminster stuf, I rarely agree with her. But as a councillor? I wish her well, and the commitment she shows is commendable. Read the rest, it’s a really good description, and the inserts are very well done.
(review of weekend to follow, am utterly exhausted, very relaxed and making more typos per sentance than correctly spelt words. Suffice to say, it was good)

Can someone with a free (ie not sponsored+) account test something? Apparently, Sponsored+ can now post polls. Apparently, you can switch to sponsored+, posta poll, then switch back to free, losing nothing, having ads for the 5 minutes it takes to post the poll, and then not seeing them again.
Sounds like a plan to me; can somoene try it?
(And I need a 6-apart suck icon…)

Right, yesterdays post gives us a few suggestions and enough people taking part to (probably) make it work. So, collating the suggestions, we have:
For the second one, any suggestions for any of the targets welcome, if you runout of space, comment y’hear?
Also, write in candidates are allowed, and I am specifically using tickboxes not radio buttons, feel free to vote for more than one target; we can, after all, do more than one bomb if we feel like it, we’ll just do the most popular first.

on the portrayal of women in comics. Very good. Very good indeed.
For those that, like me, briefly liked Goodkind’s Wizard’s First Rule but couldn’t figure out what was wrong with it, this comment thread is also worth a read.

Right, we’re all out of the sandbox and then some now. And I’m bored, and busy at work, so I want some easy amusement. I want to set up a Google Bomb and see how well it goes. The last one was a silly joke with no chance of success, so, a few guidelines, then a poll.
- The page lined to must be an established website, not a new domain
- The search term we’re targetting must be an unusual search term
- It’s got to be funny in some way
I’m tempted to do something like pointless waste of time but, well, some of you fools like Big Brother (could do the same for the World Cup instead?).
Partially, want to do this as a proof of concept, in theory, three participants doing it correctly can get an obscure term to a high ranked site easily, but, say, 20 people on my f-list could get pretty much anything if we wanted to. Theoretically. And if we can? Well, for example, Exeter students could do some nasty things to parts of the website or, say, the Vice Chancellor. Most cabinet members have been done over more than once already, but, y’know, the more the merrier…
Extra: Interesting Slate article on the subject, with a good roundup of the history.
